What is Energy Creates?
In 2024, Energy Creates challenged Canadian youth aged 15 – 25 to think about how energy — a vital sector — shapes our lives, pumps up the economy and empowers our country on the global stage.
Five Energy Creates contest winners will each receive a life-changing full tuition scholarship of up to $100,000 for their post-secondary studies!
This year, we’ve updated the contest with a brand new documentary, along with a new study guide and quiz. Want your chance to be this year’s winner?

Energy Creates FAQs
ELIGIBILITY
Who is eligible to enter the Energy Creates Scholarship Competition?
Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada who are enrolled in or entering an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution by September 30, 2028, are eligible. Minors require parental or guardian consent.
I applied last year. Can I enter the 2025 contest?
Absolutely! As long as you still fit the eligibility criteria (like age, residency), you’re welcome to enter again.
Can third- or fourth-year students apply for the Energy Creates Scholarship? If so, will the Scholarship cover tuition retroactively for previous years?
Answer: Yes, third- or fourth-year students enrolled in an Eligible Program are eligible to apply for the Energy Creates Scholarship. If selected as a winner, the Scholarship may include reimbursement for any previous years of study at the Eligible Program, provided the winner can provide proof of payment for tuition costs in those years.
Are submissions in languages other than English or French accepted?
No, submissions must be in English or French to be eligible for the Competition.
Can employees of Energy Creates Inc. or members of the selection committee participate?
No, employees of Energy Creates Inc. and members of the selection committee, as well as their immediate family members living under the same roof, are not eligible.
Can works created with the help of artificial intelligence platforms like ChatGPT be submitted?
No, works originating from artificial intelligence platforms are not eligible for the Competition.
Submission Process
How can I submit my work?
All submissions must be made online through the scholarship competition portal on the Energy Creates website after creating an account. Projects submitted via email or other means will NOT be accepted.
Is there a submission fee?
No, there is no submission fee for the Energy Creates Scholarship Competition.
Can I submit my work by email or mail?
No, only online submissions through the competition portal will be accepted. Handwritten manuscripts, fax texts, or emailed submissions are not allowed.
Categories and Topics
What kind of artwork can I submit?
Submissions can be made in categories that include, but are not limited to, short film, visual art, dance performance, musical performance, and short story or other writing.
What is the theme for submissions?
Submissions should be original artistic works on the theme of the Canadian energy sector and energy poverty.
Rights and Scholarships
What rights do participants grant by submitting their work
Participants grant Energy Creates Inc. the right to translate and reproduce excerpts from their work for promotional purposes.
What does the Scholarship cover?
Winners receive an amount equal to their tuition costs and other mandatory fees for each year of their educational program, up to a cumulative maximum of $100,000.00 CAD.
Deadlines and Judging
When is the submission deadline?
The deadline for submissions is November 17, 2025, at 17:00 Eastern Time.
How are submissions judged?
Submissions are judged anonymously by a panel of expert jurors based on the quality and relevance to the theme of the Competition.
When will winners be announced?
Winners will be announced in 2026.

Where can I find the most up-to-date information about the Competition?
What are the consequences of not meeting all the conditions described in the rules?
Failure to meet all conditions may result in disqualification from the Competition. Plagiarism, use of AI-generated work, or non-compliance can lead to disqualification and return of the Scholarship money if applicable.
