Powering the Flag

A dance concept video where seven dancers, each carrying a different energy source, weave together into the shape of the Canadian flag.
About this work
Diversity is one of the first words that comes to mind when thinking about Canada. The energy sector mirrors that diversity: many very different sources keep the country moving. Seven dancers, each wearing a different colour, each given a solo inspired by their assigned energy source. As they perform, puzzle pieces tagged with their power source drift across the bottom of the frame. At the end, all seven dance together in one space, weaving through each other into something larger than themselves, and the puzzle pieces lock into the Canadian flag. Oil and gas leads, acting as the backbone, danced by the director herself.
